Upgrades can increase the stats of a piece of equipment and sometimes even its extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements, and how many random augmentations can be applied.
The elite racial Shield Razortail, for example, is often upgraded to increase its lightning absorption capabilities in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based designs in the PvM. This makes it more marketable over the original version that is not upgraded.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens allow you to roll a purchased item such as an armor, weapon or ring. This swaps the current item upgrader mod for one of the same type with a different set of extra bonuses. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective method of upgrading gear. However, they don't retain the quality of the original item and any resources that are wasted aren't refunded.
The surviving players can acquire Reroll tokens in a variety of ways, including the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be found in chests and crates, or purchased at the local store at a cost of 150k each. Players can reroll equipment in three attributes, physical power, spell power, and health. Upgrades to physical power boost the damage caused by weapons and melee attack while upgrades to spell power upgrade mage attacks and the ring. Health upgrades provide the player with an extra health.
Three types of reroll tokens are available such as upgrade, rare and legendary. Each upgrade elevates an item to a better quality and requires a higher-quality reroll token order to create it. Once an item has reached its maximum level, its upgrades will no longer be available to it. Once a piece of equipment reaches a specific upgrade track (e.g. Veteran or Explorer) upgrades for that track will come with discounts.
Upgrade components are a kind of equipment that can slot into armors, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and weapons in order to provide an extra effect or attribute bonus while the equipment is equipped. They can be bought from vendors, looted, obtained by completing quests or traded between players. Upgrades can be beneficial to certain items, but not because they increase stats. They are more valuable to players if they can get a perfect roll. A perfect-rolled 200/6 500 armor set piece, for instance, is highly valued by melee PvP communities and can be worth up to 20-50 times that of the unupp'd version.
When you choose an upgrade component to be inserted into an item the game will display an in-game window that lists the necessary requirements. These include the type of item (either weapon or armor) the tier of the item, the upgrade Token required, and the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade.
The game will add an item in your inventory when you've met the requirements for an upgrade. The progress bar will then update to show you how far to finishing the upgrade. You can also check the status of an upgrade by visiting any item upgrader NPC.
